Sansar Projects facilitates the acquisition and private sale of artwork in modern and contemporary collections, with a particular expertise in Latin American art and monumental sculpture. Founded by Sebastian Sarmiento, our practice draws on strong relationships with galleries, auction houses, estates and private collections to provide our clients with market insights that help shape their collections.
Sebastian Sarmiento
Founder
Sebastian founded Sansar Projects in 2020 while serving as a Director at the storied Marlborough Gallery in New York, a position he held for 11 years. While at Marlborough, he played a pivotal role in nurturing and maintaining relationships with prominent artists, estates, and collectors. In addition to overseeing the curation and production of major exhibitions—both at the gallery and beyond—Sebastian facilitated numerous complex, multi-million-dollar acquisitions for clients, artists, and museums.
Born in Venezuela, he attended Bard College in New York’s Hudson Valley, where he studied art history and began exploring the Latin American market. Today, he counts many of the leading figures in Latin American art among his closest contacts and maintains extensive relationships with major galleries and auction houses. He is particularly experienced in all aspects of monumental sculpture, having placed, installed, and maintained numerous works in major collections. Sebastian travels frequently to art fairs and exhibitions throughout the year, and divides his time between Manhattan and Columbia County, New York.
